Organic Sage Hydrosol

Description

Sage is traditionally used in the treatment of sore throat, tonsillitis, mouth ulcers, gum disease, laryngitis, coughs, measles, headache, bruises, and menopausal problems. It is astringent and antiseptic.

Sage also relaxes the peripheral blood vessels, reduces perspiration, and reduces salivation.

It is a uterine stimulant, promotes bile flow, and stimulates the circulatory system.

Sage is also a familiar culinary ingredient in sausages, stuffings, and dressings.

Sage Hydrosol can be used on the scalp and hair where it conditions and restores shine.

Sage helps stop dandruff and relieves dry, itchy scalp. Use as a rinse after shampooing. Combine with Rosemary for best results.

Sage is drying and cooling. It is used in menopause to relieve night sweats and other uncomfortable symptoms.

Sage may also be given to nursing mothers to help wean babies (Sage helps decrease milk flow).

Sage Hydrosol can be used in compresses to relieve bruising. Apply to injured area several times a day. Add a little vinegar for best results.

Sage may also be used on wounds to prevent bacterial infection.

Applications:

– can replace water in lotions or cosmetic recipes

– use as a gargle or mouth wash for sore throat, tooth ache and gum diseases

– use in shampoos to stop dandruff and for shiny hair (combine with Rosemary for shiny, healthy hair)

– use as a compress to reduce bruising

– use internally at first signs of a cold (swollen glands) or to increase memory

What are hydrosols?

A hydrosol is the water that is left over when plants are steam-distilled to release their essential oils. Hydrosols contain traces of the essential oil as well as other plant components that are only water-soluble. This makes hydrosols very special, a unique product that can’t be manufactured synthetically.

Hydrosols can be used 100% pure, as a face mist, pillow mist, added to skin care products (replacing destilled water), room refresher. You can even drink hydrosols (diluted) or add it to your cooking.

Hydrosols contain the same plant properties as the essential oil, so can be used for the same applications.
